Job Description |
The student assistants help with the work of Special Collections (rare books and manuscripts collections; art collections; digital collections, and college archives). Work may include: overseeing the reading room, assisting researchers and faculty, retrieving special collections materials from storage, cleaning and organizing of public facing and shared staff spaces, locking/unlocking the gallery, processing and inventorying collections, digitization and transcription projects, project research, data entry in collections databases, helping with preparations for exhibitions or events, boxing and rehousing collections. Application review begins April 7th. |
Job Requirements |
This is an in-person job. It requires working indoors, sometimes around dust and mold and going into areas that are not well ventilated. Masks and gloves will be provided when needed. Students should have an interest in working with rare books, manuscript or archival collections, art or artifacts. Students will be assigned specific tasks based on the day-to-day needs of the department, previous experience, interests, language skills, etc. at the discretion of supervisor. |
