Graduate TA/Grader Position
Graduate Teaching Assistant/Grader for José Vergara’s Praxis / Inside-Out Center course “RUSS B252: Love, Death, and Russian Literature” in spring 2026.
The class is part of a program that brings together college students and incarcerated students to study a subject and to engage with one another through dialogue, writing, and collaboration. RUSS252 will be held off campus at SCI Chester, a medium-security men’s prison, on Tuesday afternoons (approximately 11.45-4.30 including travel time). While the content of the course is
Russian literature, the conversations and community components of the course are just as, if not more than, important. Inside-Out is about using any course materials as a vehicle to consider social justice issues, the prison system, and our relationships to others in our communities. Job Requirements |
Responsibilities
· Attend fall orientation session at Bryn Mawr
· Complete weekly assigned readings
· Attend class (Tu 11.45-4.30 with travel and security processing time included)
o TA could meet the class at SCI Chester if they have their own transportation
· Meet with instructor to update and revise lesson plans (weekly or bi-weekly, virtual or in person)
· Grade and provide written feedback on student work (weekly responses, essays, other occasional assignments). This task will be shared with the course instructor.
· Other tasks as assigned
Skills
· Strong writing and editing skills ?
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team ?
· Excellent communication skills ?
· Very strong time management
· Experience with writing in the humanities preferred but not required
· Experience with teaching preferred but not required |
