Description
Bryn Mawr College and Bryn Mawr Athletics is seeking a new Owl mascot to perform the duties of the Owl at various athletic events and will be asked to represent Bryn Mawr College and Bryn Mawr Athletics at functions outside of Athletics. The mascot must be motivated and have high energy with an outgoing personality to create a memorable and entertaining experience for fans.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assume the persona of the Owl Mascot (Olympia) and convey emotions, energy, and enthusiasm through exaggerated movements, gestures, and body language.
• Perform dance routines, stunts, and crowd interactions to entertain and engage fans during games and events.
• Encourage audience participation, including leading cheers and chants, and posing for photos with fans.
• Assist in marketing campaigns through mascot-related promotions.
• Ensure the Owl costume remains in good condition and is clean and safe before and after each performance.
• Be punctual and prepared for all performances.
• Wear the Owl mascot costume for 1.5-2.5 hours at events

• Some performances may be required off campus and on weekends. If you do not have means of transportation, then it will be provided for you.

Requirements and Qualifications
• Significant passion for Bryn Mawr College and Bryn Mawr Athletics
• Enrollment as a Bryn Mawr College student
• Ability to work throughout the entire academic year with a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays (about 15-20 performances per year).
• Ability to attend at least 80% of all special event appearances (about 5-10 per year).
• Excellent physical stamina and endurance to perform in a Mascot costume for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions.
• Strong non-verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey emotions and enthusiasm through physical gestures and expressions.
• A friendly and engaging personality, with the ability to interact positively with fans and represent the organization professionally.
• Comfortable performing in a confined costume with limited visibility and mobility, adapting to different performance environments and situations.
• Prioritize safety, following safety protocols, and ensuring the well-being of both the performer and fans.
• Flexibility in work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the organization's event schedule.
• Interest and experience with various social media platforms, and creative ideas to utilize social media to help fans engage with the Owl.
