Job Description The Student Support and Belonging Graduate Assistant (GA) will work collaboratively with the professional staff of Team Impact to support their programming goals. The GA will co-organize and host events, activities, field trips, and workshops developed by professional staff. The GA will work to ensure The Impact Center’s programming is safe, welcoming, culturally affirming, and community building. This position requires the GA to be in consistent communication and collaboration with their supervisors, the Assistant Director for Intercultural Engagement and the Associate Director for Student Support and Belonging. The GA will provide administrative, logistical, and facilitation support for Breaking Barriers (BB) events led by the supervisors. The GA should maintain systems for taking attendance at these events as well as evaluating their quality. The GA should communicate information about Impact Center events to students in the community. Open to graduate students ONLY.
Job Requirements Maintain a shared calendar of The Enid Cook '31 Center (ECC) and BB events, including which will be hosted by the GA Co-coordinate and facilitate dynamic programming and events that enhance the inclusiveness of the BMC community (ex. AMO field day, Breaking Barriers workshops, grocery store field trip, ECC community night, etc.) Present or facilitate workshops on identity development, inclusion, equity, belonging, welcome, anti-racism, etc. (Apartment Searching 101, Time Management & Prioritization, Auto Purchasing & Transportation Tips, Academic Resilience & Strategies for Success, Navigating Imposter Phenomenon, etc.) Host events with and without professional or student staff, especially in the evenings and on the weekends Perform appropriate assessment of events and programs Take attendance at all events Create and distribute marketing materials for ECC and BB events, as needed Provide feedback on The Impact Center’s programming, especially around appreciation for diversity and cross-cultural engagement Cultivate close working relationships with students, faculty, and staff to promote services of the department Qualifications Must be an incoming or returning graduate student at BMC Must be able to work evenings and weekends Must be committed to learning and personal development on the job License, van certification, and comfortability driving on the highway is preferred
