Job Description The Arts Office Front of House Manager will be tasked with managing ushers employed by the arts office and managing the front of house for Arts Program performances Evening and weekend hours are necessary. This is a position dependent on the number of performances that are scheduled by the Arts Program and Performing Arts Program each semester. Prior experience in performing arts front of house management and customer service is preferred. Interested parties should include a cover letter with their submitted application.
Job Requirements • Practice punctual attendance at events. • Practice responsive email communication, as this is the primary form of communication prior to the event with your supervisor. • Receive management direction and feedback from your supervisor and program faculty present at events (i.e. production director, stage manager etc.). • Represent Bryn Mawr College’s Arts/Performing Arts Program with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions. • Prepare lobby & audience spaces before the public’s arrival with ushers (a specific time will be provided to you for each performance). • Dress appropriately for work in our designated uniform (a white or black top/blouse and black bottoms), ensure that the ushers you supervise are also appropriately dressed according to the uniform policy. • Perform pre-show front of house audience announcements (i.e. no flash photography/ videography etc. dependent on each performance licensing agreement) • Must be available for all Arts Program and Performing Arts Series events throughout the academic year. • Must be able to complete tasks and manage the flow of the performance day/night with the instructional information you will receive for each show. • Welcome guests and be vigilant regarding customer/patron interactions. • Will remain after the ushers to ensure their end of shift tasks are completed. I.e. all parking signs have been retrieved and returned to their proper storage, reception table cleaned (dependent on if there is an after-performance reception) and stored if it doesn’t belong to Wyndham catering, cleaning the space after the shows, and making sure there is no trash left behind in the theater.
