Job Description Dr. Rachel Speer seeks a highly motivated Research Assistant to join a dynamic team at Bryn Mawr College. This position will support a research project focused on examining the experiences of male Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in relation to adverse childhood experiences, parenting, health, and mental health. Responsibilities: 1. Literature Review: Conduct comprehensive literature searches using academic databases to gather relevant articles, studies, and publications on fatherhood, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), parenting, mental health, and racial/ethnic minority experiences. 2. Data Analysis: Assist in quantitative data analysis using statistical software (SPSS or Stata). Tasks may include data cleaning, coding, running descriptive statistics, and conducting advanced statistical analyses as directed by the research team. 3. Manuscript Preparation: Support the preparation of research manuscripts for publication. This includes formatting references, assisting with figure and table creation, proofreading drafts, and ensuring adherence to journal submission guidelines. 4. Research Coordination: Help coordinate communication with collaborators, manage project timelines, and ensure adherence to research protocols and ethical standards. 5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of literature searches, data analysis procedures, and project milestones. Assist in preparing progress reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements • GSSWSR grad student with a degree in psychology, sociology, social work, public health, or a related field (current graduate students preferred). • Experience with literature review methodologies and academic databases (e.g., PubMed, PsycINFO, Google Scholar). • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (SPSS, Stata, R) and familiarity with data management techniques. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to work independently. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Interest in social science research, particularly issues related to fatherhood, racial/ethnic minorities, and mental health. Preferred Skills: • Prior experience with quantitative data analysis (e.g., Stata) is a plus. • Knowledge of research ethics and IRB processes. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. • Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and deadlines.
