Job Description |
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work collaboratively with the professional staff of the Impact Center to support their programming goals. The GA will co-organize and host events, activities, field trips, and workshops developed by professional staff. The GA will work to ensure Impact Center programming is safe, welcoming, culturally affirming, and community building.
Overview of Duties
Roles and Responsibilities
• Maintain a shared calendar of Impact Center events, including which will be hosted by the GA
• Co-coordinate and facilitate dynamic programming and events that enhance the inclusiveness of the BMC community (ex. AMO field day, International Education Week, grocery store field trips, ECC community night, etc.)
• Present or facilitate workshops on identity development, inclusion, equity, belonging, welcome, anti-racism, etc. (Apartment searching 101 workshop, racial identity development workshop, etc.)
• Host events with and without professional or student staff, especially in the evenings and
• Perform appropriate assessment of events and programs
• Take attendance at all events
• Provide feedback on Impact Center programming, especially around appreciation for diversity and cross-cultural engagement
• Cultivate close working relationships with students, faculty, and staff to promote services of the department

Terms of Employment
• The GA is expected to uphold College policies and the Honor Code
• The GA will participate in required trainings and regular meetings with their Impact Center professional staff supervisor, as well as other Impact Center staff as needed
• The GA position is considered an appointment for one complete academic year, subject to review and evaluation
• The GA will be paid at an hourly rate of $20/ hour and is expected to work an average of 10-15 hours per week. This estimate is provided as a guideline, and weekly fluctuations are expected to occur throughout the year.
Qualifications
• Must be an incoming or returning graduate student at BMC
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends
• Must be committed to learning and personal development on the job
Termination
Termination, by mutual agreement, may be affected at any time. This appointment is also subject to termination by the Impact Center prior to its normal expiration if the enrollment of the student employee at Bryn Mawr College ceases. The appointment may also be terminated for serious failure to satisfactorily meet position responsibilities and/or commitments, failure to meet academic or employment standards, or conduct that violates College policies or that does not meet the standards of behavior set by the College or the Impact Center. Upon termination of employment by the student employee, the College, or mutual agreement, remuneration will be pro-rated to cover only that period for which the individual was employed.
