Job Description Canaday Circulation Assistants provide service to library patrons and process circulating materials. This is an active position that will require you to move often and quickly switch between tasks. Nearly all shifts involve checking books and other items out to patrons, checking items in and preparing them to be shelved back into the library stacks or sent to their home library, addressing patron questions and concerns both in person and over the phone, collecting fines, finding books in the stacks, and providing support to circulation supervisors as needed. This is an in-person, onsite job.
Job Requirements • Job Requirements and Responsibilities: o Work as a Canaday Circulation Assistant from around mid-May to August o May be required to work nights or weekends. o Check-in and check-out library materials. o Respond to patron requests in-person and via the phone. o Prepare books for shipment to other libraries. o Some shifts may be required to collect books requested by other colleges or search for missing books. o Act as a resource for other Canaday Circulation Assistants. o Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse community of staff, students, and faculty. o Must be able to learn new tasks quickly and retain knowledge of things that were learned. o Show up to all scheduled shifts on time or obtain appropriate coverage. o Take no more than 5 scheduled vacation days (unpaid) and find an emergency sub for any sick days. o Other duties as assigned. • General Requirements: o Be a matriculating Bryn Mawr College student. o Ability to pack and unpack boxes of books and remove and place books on shelves.
