Job Description Help Desk Student Technicians (HDSTs) assist community members with computer related questions in person, electronically, and on the phone. Candidates will also assist Client Services staff in doing hands-on, on-site support for members of the College community and/or be asked to take on special projects. They will be expected to develop and maintain a professional level of knowledge of the College’s Library and Information Technology Services technologies, services, and processes. Candidates must demonstrate personal initiative, dedication to service, excellent communication skills, and technological competency. Curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult or emergency situations are crucial. This position is in-person and on site.
Job Requirements Job Requirements and Responsibilities: o Respond to community requests and provide troubleshooting steps and problem resolutions via email, telephone, and in-person, including hands-on and on-site support. o Work with a ticketing system to initiate, update, route, and resolve requests accurately and efficiently. o Act as a resource for other HDSTs. o Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse community of staff, students, and faculty. o Must be able to learn new tasks quickly and retain knowledge of things that were learned. o Able to work at least 8 hours/week, with at least 2 hours during the business day. o Show up to all scheduled shifts on time or obtain appropriate coverage. o Able to work with moderate to little direct supervision. o Other duties as assigned. General Requirements: o Be a matriculating Bryn Mawr College student. o Ability to regularly lift or push up to 40 lbs of books, DVDs, or technology equipment. o Ability to unpack boxes of paper and technology equipment.
